20 years of brickfox: From NETFORMIC experiment to e-commerce game changer
Look back. Look forward. Look at you.
As early as 2005, the founders of NETFORMIC faced a challenge that sounds all too familiar to our current customers: A growing online shop was reaching its limits. Timo Weltner and Martin Haak realized that standard solutions were no longer sufficient – and promptly developed their own e-commerce platform. In 2007, this became a dedicated department, in 2009 the product was first launched as brickfox, and in 2011, the company was spun off as a GmbH (limited liability company).
In 2014, I, Dietmar Hölscher, was privileged to participate in the first brickfox customer day as a representative of Shopware and later as its current CEO. It was the launch of a network of retailers, manufacturers, and brands that has continued to grow ever since.
In 2023, we fundamentally modernized brickfox: The team, technology, and framework underwent a radical transformation process that catapulted us into a leading position. With the final independence from NETFORMIC in 2024 – thanks to the Digital Native Alliance led by Timo Weltner and Stephan Sigloch – we are now ready as an agile, self-determined partner to support e-commerce projects of any size. Special thanks go to Timo, Stephan, and of course, Martin Haak, who have passionately driven brickfox forward from the very beginning.
Over the past four years, we've worked hard on service and software quality. Since September 2024, we've resolved 99,5% of all tickets within the agreed SLA timeframe, while the number of inquiries has decreased by 80%. Our claim "Service Champion in E-Commerce" is therefore more than just a promise.
At the foxcon-Highlight on 3 June 2025 in Cologne, we will not only celebrate 20 years of brickfox, but will also look ahead together with you: under the motto “Look back. Look forward.
